Teen Support
Mission
To provide a safe, non-judgemental space for teens to build self-esteem and agency through the exploration of skills and meaningful connections with themselves and others.
Teens today are struggling with many pressures; their identity, self-worth, decision making, and how to navigate through friendships and the future. They need an adult who can listen and help guide them through the emotional ups and downs that come with being a teenager. They need someone, who is not their parent or peer, who they can build a relationship with and trust. They need a space that is just for them to be their authentic selves and to express themselves without feeling like they have a problem that needs fixing.
Teen Support Services
Individual Therapy
Who: teens ages 13-17
Therapists will provide real-time space for teens to communicate about their unique experiences and feel less alone. The primary difference between 1:1 mentorship and individual therapy is the collaboration of goals between client and therapist. A therapeutic relationship focuses more on the client’s specific needs and concerns, and utilizes a treatment plan to establish and maintain client goals.
One-on-One Teen Mentorship
Who: Teens ages 13-19
Mentors will provide real-time space for teens to communicate about their unique experiences and feel less alone. The primary focus of 1:1 mentor relationships is to provide support, guidance, and advice, rather than treatment plans for specific behaviors and presenting issues.
This may be done by playing games together, sharing experiences, art & craft activities, etc. Our mentors are all licensed or supervised therapists who will connect with teens in a way that does not feel like and is structured differently than therapy. However, mentors are trained to assess and address any concerns that may require a more therapeutic approach.
